Happy New Year

New Year's Eve is tomorrow. Since hubby will probably take over the computer, I'll do this post now. We will stay home, thus avoiding the very dangerous drunk drivers in our area. The first wave is usually about the time the bars close around 2 am, then the second wave after the parties start winding down between 2 and 6 am. Remember not to drink and drive, as you could not only hurt yourself, but possibly kill a family!
I think people should change the way they have their new years parties. When I was younger, my friend had an annual party and it was an 'all-nighter'. Meaning, that everyone crashed there and no one left until they slept it off or had a designated driver. We had a lot of fun, as they had a relative with a good band who would play most of the night and early morning hours. Okay, enough lectures, I guess.

I moved Steven's word of the day to just below this post and added a clue. Most visitors haven't been by, so if someone guesses before the others with the clues, don't feel bad, you didn't get them at first. Steven managed to get dehydrated, it took a bit to figure out why his pullups were a weird color. As he was perfectly healthy, read: not sick, it didn't occur to me to watch that. The boys always have milk or water in their cups, but Steven doesn't drink until he really wants to. He's more stubborn than me, and that's saying a lot. I tried all day yesterday to get him to drink water, complete with bribes of chocolate and that only worked with his milk in the early am. Hopefully with the gatorade hubby brought home, I can get him to drink more than 1 cup of liquid all day. He's still sleeping, so we'll see if his pullup is orange again this morning. He was peeing clear by the time he got up from his nap, so he'll be all right. Mikel always drinks when he's thirsty, so he's fine. He announced yesterday that he was gonna pee black. Probably from all the attention Steven got. Oh, well.

The boys are starting to 'beat up' each other. Fighting over toys and whatnot. I know it's natural, but I don't have to like it. Now they are hurting each other in addition to hurting themselves running into the walls. One of their favorite things to do is to run flat out, straight into the wall. I don't know why that's fun or why they keep doing it when they cry after they hurt themselves. Atleast Steven isn't biting himself after the second time. He had that bite mark for a week. Twice. Weird kid. The boys seem polar opposites sometimes. Steven starts almost every fight and bosses Mikel. You'd think it'd be different as Mikel is almost 2 years older. Atleast Mikel seems to be excited about school next year.

Speaking of school, the Lakers were undefeated and won State this year. It seems that every year in which we go undefeated, we win State also. I do believe they make the state game most years, but the winning of it seems to hinge on the 0 losses. We go against some bigger city schools, it would seem that they have a better chance to win as they have a bigger pool of talent to pull from, but we seem to grow good football players here. I wonder if they've had any girls want to play. In my Junior year of HS, a girl was on our 'arch rival' team. It was apparently a big deal. Boys seem to get weird ideas about those things. If you wanted to know, she was a good player and wasn't intimidated. The HS football head coach had been teaching for years when I was in HS, and that was 10 years ago. I wonder if he'll be retiring soon. I wonder who'll get his spot, probably Pappy. Unless he's getting too old too. I noticed a few of the kids' names in the flyer we got the other day. Mr. Wackerman's son was named to the all of the all-whatever teams, I had him for some weird shop type class. His wife was the school nurse for a different building. He was a very nice guy, and very strict about messing around in class. Guess you'd have to be when working with soldering irons, and other various 'tools of the trade'. I saw Mr Porter and his daughter at wal-mart. If his wife had been with them, I'd have said something. They started teaching at our school when I started Jr High. He was Civics and she was some kind of math. Since I didn't test into 7th grade Pre-Algebra, I'm not sure which math she taught. She was fun though, even with the usual teacher go-rounds. All my teachers and I had go rounds. It's inevitable when you don't do homework. It's funny how my teachers tolerated the go rounds. Maybe they realized I was bored half the time and had no time for homework. Etc, etc as the story goes. One teacher I usually see but haven't lately is Mr. Bruns. I think my homework/test situation amused him. The second year I had him, he moved up to the HS with us, he didn't even ask.

I think I'm done rambling on now. Have a safe and Happy New Year. Scroll down and guess the word!
