Listening to my YIM launchcast I remembered saying I would post lyrics for songs that spoke to me. I have no idea when these guys wrote this song, but it's truer now than it was a few years ago. When will people start taking responsibility for their choices?
This also speaks in another way. At se7en's today he commented in his comments that someone was harassing someone else at the someone else's blog. I saw the post that the someone did afterward. Said something about the guestblogger at the site in contention was bringing the blog down. All because of a post about a person in their workplace committing suicide. Had a mental disorder, bipolar I think. Then commenting that unlike other diseases, Mental diseases are by and large ignored. Which is true. There's nothing wrong with pointing out problems in our society. It's not like it was a crapload of posts or a very long one for that matter. I got there too late to see what the harassment was, it was deleted and the person was banned from haloscan. Now I don't know the whole story, nor do I care to. What I do know is that you can write whatever the hell you want in your own posts. If a reader doesn't like it, there's that pretty little x button or the next blog button to get you away from the site. I remember when Community Justice was started. I don't really know what went on to end up starting that. The purpose is to help bloggers that are being harassed, for the hatemail and hateful comments to stop. There are several members and a special e-mail address just for that purpose. If you ask them to help, they do. You can get there by clicking on my Hatemail button. I do not understand hateful people.
I was dismayed this weekend to find Wisdom of a Moonchild down. The writer posted their new site in se7en's place and I've been since. As many problems as have been there I will not post the site. Apparently some real life friends were reading the site. Who has the right to harass for what is written in a journal. Even I don't like my friends or family all the time, 24 hours a day. And who likes their job all the time? Frankly, I'm relieved that all the blogs I visit reveal people who are normal. Meaning have moods, quirks, etc. Like I do. If someone were happy go lucky or down in the dumps all the time, I wouldn't bother to read. That's really boring.
You may not agree with my opinions. You may not like some of the things I say. I don't care. I don't have that problem anyway. The point is, I treat all the people I come across on the net as I do those I come across in real life. I am myself. On someone else's site I weigh my comments carefully, I don't wish to be rude or condescending. If I ask a question, it's plain curiosity. If I give an opinion, that's all it is and it seemed that you wanted one. If I sympathize, it's genuine. There have been some sites that have had sad posts lately. If this applies and I haven't commented, it's because I can't find the right words.
In other words, many people need to just GET OVER IT! Of course this doesn't mean my readers as none have ever tried to give me my opinion and that's the only thing that will piss me off. Give me your opinion if you want, just don't try to make it mine. |
