Quote of the day:They say that love conquers all. Maybe,
but *I* haven't lost faith in armored
divisions with awesome firepower coupled
with total air and naval superiority.

Patriots vs. Eagles
Superbowl Sunday February 6, 2005
Today I was awed by the Patriots. They outmanuvered Wide Recievers who were said to be faster than their defenders. The Steelers QB made a good showing. I would not have guessed for a while that he is a rookie. I'll probably pay attention to what he's doing the next couple of years. He has potential, but a long way to go. I don't normally follow any of the teams in the playoffs this year, so I don't know much about them. I rarely miss that HBO football show though, so I consider myself somewhat well informed.
Eagles had a good showing also. The one thing I noticed most was all the rookie mistakes they were making. For some reason once teams get this far, with going to the superbowl on the line, they start making rookie mistakes. I saw one guy reach out and grab a facemask. Didn't pull on it, just grabbed it. Cost them 15 yards and a first down. I wonder why this is. We'll see if the teams do this in two weeks. I hope not. They are better than that.
I pick a favorite team every year. Whoever seems to have their sh*t together. I am not ashamed to admit I'm a fairweather fan. Maybe that's because I didn't know anything about football until High School. Being in the marching band taught me a lot about the game. It was the one place a guy wouldn't look at you funny and snort for asking what was going on. They seemed to realize you really wanted to know. Of course, we didn't have tv in my house. I didn't get into NFL football until I was around 19. My first favorite team were the Cowboys. This was for 3 years, around the time they won the superbowl twice. Emmet Smith and Jerry Rice were my first favorites. Of course, you can have outstanding players and a bad team. Some of these guys today are too focused on themselves, forgetting that they are not the only ones that win the game. The chiefs had a good showing this year. They can never be my favorite though, it is too much fun to tease my husband about how bad they are. This was curtailed a bit this year, he was so disappointed I had to point out what they were doing well. We even went to a game. Pictures are here.It was fun, but ticket prices are outrageous.
Drop a note with your prediction on who will win.
