Idiots: why do I let them piss me off?
On the news, just now someone called the whatever county pd about phone calls they got. Someone wants to give them money. The catch? You must give them your bank account number, routing thing, etc. Why would anyone do this? Give you money, but we want to direct deposit it. With all the dateline, 20/20, etc specials on these kind of scams, why would anyone not hang up the phone?! Just like if someone sends you an e-mail to verify your credit card number, account name and password you click that button. Why? There have been many sites which I frequent, that say in large enough letters to see it they will never e-mail and ask you to verify your account name, password, card number etc. If you do this you must be an idiot. Or a little old lady. They should be educated also. If you have a grandparent new to online stuff, you have an obligation to tell them not to do these things. I guess it's a good thing my grandma refuses to use a computer. She is so nice, she would never believe someone would try to scam her. We'd have to have one of my cousins, who live near her, keep an eye on her e-mail just to make sure no-one could take advantage of her.
Grandma has such a sunny outlook on life. I wish I had the money to move to Nebraska. I'd go just to be near them. There is nothing like grandma's wisdom. She is non-judgemental. She loves us no matter how many stupid things we do. She has never been, or atleast shown, disappointed in us. I want her to live forever. She taught me what a mother should be. I sometimes wish she was my mother. Too bad I had bad examples in my life. Every once in a while I get a little resentful of her, showing me what I missed. But, that's stupid, that thought leaves as quick as it comes. The naivete of grandma is hilarious. That said, I have had talks with her about sex and the things that go with it. This woman has only been with one man, she is still with him. Her knowledge amazes me. Fierce over her 'babies', that is what a mother should be. What a treasure, I have a wish that everyone could know that kind of love from someone in their life. I want to cry, I know she's going to leave us soon. Her health is not the best. She doesn't take very good care of herself. She's more concerned about grandpa. He has shown me what a father should be. No nonsense, knows what's right and wrong, knows the world can be gray. He can't see anymore, but is not saddened that he can no longer paint. His paintings are beautiful. He uses canes to walk. One on each arm. A magnifying glass, very powerful, to do his crossword puzzles. All the things life has thrown at him, he has never let that get him down. It just takes longer to do, that's all. Grandma has started to talk about what she wants us to have. It bugs me, fact of life but still. I have nightmares about the day she leaves us. I wake up crying. I don't want their money, their things, I want them. They got married because grandma was pregnant. They celebrated their 50th when I was 12. I know that marriages can start rocky. I know there will be knockdown, dragout fights. These can be overcome. Ah, well, I can't think of anything else to say. I'm sure there will be more another time.
Back to where I was. Why would you place the health of your child in the hands of strangers on a message board? There was a post the other day that a mother asked how many degrees to add to 102.7 taken under the arm. The answer is 1 degree, regardless that is not the point. What the hell are you doing on a message board instead of giving your child tylenol and a lukewarm bath. You should call your doc or if it is too late at night, the ER. You will give them a little background information. Are they still playing. Any other symptoms such as a rash, pulling on ears, vomiting, etc. This will tell them that you should either take them into the er, or control the temp and see the doc in the morning. An idiot answered the post. Add 2 to 3 degrees she said. Tylenol takes 30 minutes to work it is faster than motrin, this is not true it takes up to an hour. New parents need to know what lukewarm means. It is barely warm to your hand. Anything else is too hot, less is too cold, doing more harm than good. If you are that worried about your child take them to the er. If it is unusual for your child to be sick take them, better safe than sorry. Anyone who rubs their child down with alcohol to cool them down needs to be shot. It is a well known fact this can harm your child. It is called rheyes something syndrome. Ah well, if something's wrong with your kid you shouldn't be on the message board anyway. Especially one that can give medical advice.
Off my soapbox now, take a deep breath, it's ok.
