New Poll-Music

So, in my blog reading today, I came across Trashman. I read his everyday, as it fascinates me. He has many stories that give you a look into the 'seedy' side of life. If nothing else, you could learn why you don't want to be any kind of criminal or do drugs. Funny, insightful, etc. So today's post is the same as yesterday's. Another Poll/List that's generic and apparently many bloggers do these. What intrigued me most, I guess, is the wide range of musical tastes. Go visit, it's fun.
So the poll today is something like this:
  1. What were the bands you listened to in your parents house?
  2. Did your parents choices in music influence yours?
  3. What kind of music/bands did you listen to as a teenager?
  4. Do you still listen to them now?
  5. What are your favorite bands/artists right now at this point in your life?
  6. Is there any genre's or bands you absolutely hate/cannot listen to?
  7. Is there a radio station you can get in your area that plays most of the music you want to listen to?
  8. What does it take for you to spend $20 on a CD/Tape?
  9. What is your opinion on music file sharing(you know, the free kind)
That's all I can think of now. So I will answer first then, of course, you will.
  1. We listened to mostly really old country or old-time rock and roll. Lynrd Skynrd, Hank Williams Jr., Charlie Daniels, REO Speed Wagon, Bob Seger. Those were the types of music my parents played. We listened to a lot of music, as we didn't have tv. That's ok with me, I like music.
  2. Yes, it did influence me. I still listen to that music.
  3. Bon Jovi was first given to me by my sister, she didn't like them anymore, I still do, in fact I have almost every CD they've ever done. Skid Row, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Def Leppard, Eric Clapton, Brian Adams,Cyndi Lauper, Lita Ford, I think you're starting to get the idea.
  4. Yes I still listen to them. Mostly Bon Jovi, burned a CD mixed with some of my favorite songs. I can never seem to get enough of them. I have CD's in my car to listen in the car and at home. Most of the time I choose their tape/CD instead of listening to the radio.
  5. Right now, it's Bon Jovi hands down. His voice gives me shivers, and I love the lyrics. I've got it bad. I also listen to some classical rock and roll, but the radio stations right now are forgetting the meaning of 'classic'. I have Eric Clapton Unplugged, you know, Tears in Heaven and yes, it does make me cry. I have a couple of Bob Seger CD's. I have Reba McEntire, and that guy that sings Billy the Kid. I love Reba McEntire. Then there's Shania Twain, I know it's country, she's different. Her songs make a woman feel sexy. Yes, that is what I said. I have 2 Disney Music CD's. If you'll remember from earlier, I'm a disney movie addict so it goes without saying that I'm addicted to the music too. That's all I can remember right now, but there are many more. I still listen and am very attached to all the music I have enjoyed throughout my life.
  6. I hate rap music. I can listen to it with the treble down though. I love the bass line rhythm in the music, it's the lyrics I can't stand. Woe is me, lets kill every one doesn't cut it with me. So you had a bad life, get over it. You can move past it. These people are making a lot of money. It's not so woe is me anymore. I also cannot stand elevator music. If there is no words, I don't want to listen. Music is my poetry, I want my words! This is the main reason I hate Pink Floyd. I know the music's good. Come on, really, Pink Floyd that one song my husband was listening to the other night, there were 10 minutes of music before words! Kill me now, dammit. Their songs are like 20 minutes of music with 2 minutes of lyrics thrown in. You ever heard a Pink Floyd song played in full on the Radio? No, because they're too damn long!
  7. If I'm patient, I do have a couple of stations that will play what I want. We have 93.5fm. They play a mix of today's music. Mostly classic rock, and metal before they were considered metal. They have some of today's crappy songs, so I don't always have the patience to listen. We have a country station I like to listen to. Can't always get it. What I like about it, is they play old, old country like Hank Sr. and stuff. There are two classic rock, they aren't really rock, it's that music that is more pop, but they called it rock. Like the big bopper and stuff. I like that stuff too. Hell, I'll listen to anyone once. If they don't sing out of tune, play wrong notes, sing 'in time' to the music. You hit the wrong note or are out of tune, and I get really bad shakes. (This reaction can be described as what most people get when someone uses nails on a chalkboard. Nails on chalkboards don't bother me.) This stems from being in band too long. I tuned my own instrument by ear. I was never off once I learned. I played flute, if you're curious, however I want a piccolo. They are awesome and harder to play.
  8. It takes a lot for me to pay for a CD. Even if it's a $10 one. I have to know the band/artist and a majority of the songs. There is nothing like getting your CD home and liking one song on it. I refuse to waste money on them. That's why I secretly love greatest hits albums, they only put the best ones on. I wish I had some Lynrd Skynrd CDs. I do have the DVD though. It is awesome. Van Zandt was an awesome poet. If you don't like the music, you should atleast take a look at the lyrics. I see all artists as poets. They aren't all good, and if I don't like them I don't listen.
  9. I think the free music file sharing is a crock of shit. How much money does an artist make per cd sold? Something like 2cents. They make their money on the tours/concerts. Who's ripped off? The assholes who keep telling us that their new artists are good. They're not. Not many have real talent. Just because a woman/girl is pretty doesn't mean she should be allowed to sing. I hope the record companies start to get the idea. Now we can download 1 song for around a $1 apiece. Instead of wasting money on songs we don't like, we can pay for only the ones we do like. I am still shocked Metallica is throwing a fit over it. Didn't they used to encourage bootleg tapes of their music? This is what helps a band get heard. Word of mouth. We are so disillusioned with the crap videos/singles that get put out, we want to know we'll get our money's worth.
Well that's all I can think of now, let's see your opinions.
